After falling behind and losing a man to a sending off, Uli Hoeneß reckoned Bayern and their fans could be "very satisfied“ with Saturday's 1-1 draw away to Borussia Dortmund. "We've played more than an hour with ten men, so it rates as a very good display, especially in the second half,“ Hoeneß reasoned. Coach Jürgen Klinsmann was similarly happy: "The team reacted superbly to the sending off. The job now is to take all three points next Sunday.“
Reaction to Dortmund v Bayern:
Uli Hoeneß: "We can be very satisfied with a 1-1 draw after going a goal and a man behind. We've played more than an hour with ten men, so it rates as a very good display, especially in the second half. After conceding the goal and the sending off we were shocked at first. After we re-organised at half-time, we played a very decent second half. We've taken a point and that's OK.“
Jürgen Klinsmann: "The team's coming together all the time. Obviously we wanted to win and we've only taken a point, but with ten men it was totally deserved. It was an emotionally-charged and thrilling match. The job now is to take all three points next Sunday. The team reacted superbly to the sending off. We sat down at half-time and agreed we had to attack, we wanted to put Dortmund under pressure. What the lads achieved in the second 45 minutes was sensational. We deserved to come away with a point.“
Jürgen Klopp (Dortmund coach): "We were the tough opponents we wanted to be, at least at the start, but we were less and less aggressive in attack as the match went on, and we lost possession far too easily. There's never a man over or a man missing at set-pieces these days, the box is packed at all times - and Bayern managed to put one past us from a set play. You feared it might happen after seeing how many corners they won. We didn't quite believe in ourselves enough today. If we'd stuck to our plan, it would have been a lot more difficult for Bayern.“
Sebastian Kehl (Dortmund): "We've thrown it away today. We played really well for 20 minutes and took the lead, and then Bayern had a man sent off, but for some reason, we stopped playing football after that. We had an extra man but we suddenly gave Bayern space to play. At the end of the day, we're gutted we've only taken a point.“
Florian Kringe (Dortmund): "We played really great before half-time, but with a man over in the second half, we forgot to let the ball do the work. We've dropped two points today.“
